Overheard at EE Global: Day 1

Today’s pre-conference workshop served as an unofficial kick-off to EE Global 2010, attracting a number of registrants eager to deepen their understanding of energy efficiency topics — and meet a few new faces along the way.

Among the attendees were International Steering Committee members Horst Biedermann, former head of Eurima, and Arturo Echeverria, CEO of Aislantes Minerales.

Impressed by how quickly EE Global has grown into an internationally recognized conference in only three years, Mr. Biedermann noted the importance of bringing together key stakeholders in both industry and politics to discuss energy efficiency in all end-use sectors.

After the Save Energy Now LEADER Workshop, we caught up with Alliance board member Tom Dreessen, who is chairman, and CEO of Energy Efficiency Project Investment Company Limited. Mr. Thomas Dreesen – also a member of the ISC – emphasized that EE Global serves as a forum for leveraging best practices for energy efficiency around the world.

And what is the president of Danfoss’ main reason for attending EE Global?  “To learn from though leaders and influence policy makers in the energy field,” Robert Wilkins told us before dashing to another workshop session.

President and CEO of Building Automation at Siemens Andreas Schierenbeck is drawn to EE Global for the way the conference explores a range of topics related to energy efficiency – most notably in the buildings sector including building automation, renewable energy and smart grid technology.

In addition to attending the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC) Policy Committee Meeting, Mexican Under Secretary for Energy Planning and Technology Development Carlos Petersen is looking to EE Global for the latest energy efficiency practices being implemented in other countries.
