Overheard at EE Global: May 11, 2010

With the first full day of EE Global underway, there were plenty of opportunities to overhear the dialogue, chit-chat, and exchange of ideas all taking place in the hallways of EE Global.

At Coffee and Connections, Philips CEO Zia Eftekhar shed light on the importance of a strong partnership between the private sector and political leaders in order to address the energy problems we face today.  Leading the charge, he said, is the Alliance, which hosts events such as EE Global to provide a forum for energy leaders to forge key partnerships.  Eftekhar emphasized these partnerships are “crucial for creating effective solutions that manage energy use.”

Honored as this year’s EE Visionary Award recipient, Chile Vice Minister Jimena Bronfman Crenovich expressed her gratitude for EE Global’s recognition of Chile’s advances in energy efficiency.  In turn, she is confident the award will lend support to the country’s future energy saving projects.

Terrnika Jackson, a 7th grader at Stuart-Hobson Middle School, was excited to share what she learned about saving energy at home.  In addition to asking her parents to turn down the refrigerator, Terrnika plans to never run the dishwasher without a full load!

We bumped into Alliance Board member and Whirlpool Vice President of Government Relations Tom Catania, who was delighted to have this year’s conference held in DC.  If you want to be at the forefront of U.S. energy policy, said Catania, come to the Nation’s capital, but if you want to meet the key players in the field including advocacy, policy, and even representatives from the manufacturers side, come to EE Global.
